What your First Therapy Appointment will look like
At your first therapy appointment you can expect that I will be working with you to establish an atmosphere that will make it comfortable for you to let me know what it’s like being you.

When you do something as important as seeing a therapist, I believe it’s essential that you choose someone who loves what they do.
Steve has worked with countless people experiencing divorce, marital crises, deaths of loved ones, illnesses, losses of jobs, childhood losses, and even losses of chunks of childhood through abuse – sexual or physical – or the mental health and addiction problems of parents.
I help men to look at themselves and try to understand themselves and their emotions, so they can figure out what it is that they need, and how they need to change and take action so they can be happier.
Not every marriage can be saved. But if you are prepared to engage in a process of trying, you will be able to grow in your understanding of yourself; in your compassion for yourself; and in your capacity to love.
Steve is a proponent of focusing, which is a particular way of listening to yourself. It’s a way of paying attention, inwardly, to how you feel inside – whether that’s a body sensation, or a feeling, or a vague sense of something. And the benefits of focusing are emotional healing, insight, and stress reduction.
Support is important during the grieving process. Support comes in many forms, such as from friends and family, by participating in activities you enjoy, or through exercises to help you express your feelings, such as writing letters or keeping a journal.
Steve has worked with hundreds of couples struggling with a wide range of issues: couples who have stopped having sex, who feel like they fight too much, couples who feel their relationship has grown distant, and those who are suffering from a sense of broken trust.
Steve has an extensive history working with men through a variety of different issues, whether it be related to their relationships or to their careers, childhoods, or addictions. I understand that men’s issues can be sensitive and I always provide, safe and confidential men’s therapy here in Winnipeg.
