Helping Men Find the Courage to be Vulnerable

February 25, 2019October 7, 2013 by Steve Moscovitch
Men in Therapy

I help men to look at themselves and try to understand themselves and their emotions, so they can figure out what it is that they need, and how they need to change and take action so they can be happier.

"I began working with Steve to help me overcome the death of my infant daughter. He skillfully guided me to find the inner strength and courage to grieve fully and rediscover the importance of connection and purpose in my life. Steve's expert training in focusing therapy enabled me to listen deeply to the wisdom within and to consider what truly mattered in my relationships and work life. With Steve's support I was able to make the changes necessary to live with integrity, meaning, and joy!"

“When I began seeing Steve I was in the throes of a serious personal and professional crisis. I was trapped in cycles of thoughts and feelings that turned bright days cloudy and constantly searching for escape. Steve helped me find a pathway to a peaceful mind – one that I did not believe could exist. Steve fostered my trust, helped me clarify the roots of my crisis, and gave me exercises, resources, and strategies that have served me well in the years that have passed since we worked together.”

“I hit a real low point several years ago and needed some help sorting out some issues. I was the kind of guy who always felt that I could handle things on my own.

Along came Steve through a family member of mine. Steve was easy to talk with and offered insights and options that led to me being a much happier and healthier man. Steve’s approach was supportive, calming, and non-judgmental.

Thanks, Steve.”

My partner and I have been to see several different couple counsellors over the years. We have generally found the process to be very based in problem-solving, and it usually worked for us in the short term. With Steve, I felt that he got down to deeper issues, and really helped us to learn how to listen to each other again (or maybe for the first time in some ways!). Instead of working on the immediate issues, he helped us find the common ground we thought we had lost. From that common ground we were able to work with some current conflicts. And we have been better off in working out our issues, and really listening to each other, on an everyday basis. If we need 'recalibrating' we will go back. It is good to know that there is someone who will be there for us.

Suicide was the friend I lived with for 24 years. Alone and isolated. Steve, with compassion along with the counselling method "Focusing,"  showed me how to look at the fear I had so secretly hidden. Previous years in other therapy were ineffective. With Steve, I quickly found myself alive, whole, and knowing how to see life as lovely. Thank you, Steve.
